PhD Candidate at Lund School of Economics and Management - Sweden, (2019) MSocSc Organizational Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Copenhagen Business School, (2016) MSc in Industrial Engineering, Universidad de los Andes, (2012) Industrial Engineering, Universidad de los Andes, Colombia

I am Colombian with passion for social impact. I believe that change starts at the individual, community, local and then global level. I have set my goal in making a better experience to whatever challenges I encounter and monetary systems and governance models is what concerns me at the time.

In my path to understanding and reflecting about these issues I have found my way through “Reflexive Modeling”. Models are just limited abstractions of reality and is part of our job as researchers to dig in the stories behind our models and learn to engage in a dialogue between both worlds.

Technology empowers us to act locally, autonomously and in decentralized ways and my research objective is to, in a global context, find ways to govern, communicate and scale the impact of alternative monetary models. This with a special focus on achieving a more inclusive and community owned financial system.

As a Ph.D. fellow for the Agenda 2030 Graduate School, I expect to identify challenges and conflicting elements in the sustainability agenda, contribute with new perspectives, and create solutions for the challenges ahead

I am a researcher in data science for sustainability, working at the intersection of society, politics, economy, and the environment. My work integrates statistics, artificial intelligence, and complex systems approaches to generate robust, data-driven evidence that supports decision-making in complex socio-environmental contexts.

My research focuses on understanding and modeling socio-ecological systems, with the goal of improving sustainability outcomes through interdisciplinary analysis and innovative analytical tools.

My research interests are organized around four main areas:

🌱 Socio-ecological systems dynamics
I study the interactions between human societies and ecosystems, with particular attention to the social, economic, and political processes that shape these dynamics.

💚 Nature’s values
I explore the diverse ways in which people value nature and work on integrating these perspectives into decision-making processes and public policy design.

🦋 Biodiversity management and conservation
I apply computer vision, statistical modeling, and spatial analysis to species classification and monitoring, generating evidence to support biodiversity management and conservation strategies.

🏛️ Governance and public policy
I analyze policy integration and coherence using quantitative and data-driven methods, aiming to improve policy design, implementation, and decision-making processes.

Overall, my research seeks to integrate interdisciplinary approaches to strengthen sustainability, generating knowledge and innovative tools based on data science and artificial intelligence that support both public policy development and the management and conservation of socio-ecological systems.

MSW

Ms. Stringfellow is a PhD candidate whose goal is to identify ways to build and leverage the natural support systems of people who are experiencing problems related to their illicit drug use. Her current interest is in how these support systems operate in small towns with limited formal resources for quitting. To that end, she recently began conducting in-depth qualitative interviews for her dissertation in a semi-rural county in eastern Missouri. These interviews will be used to build an agent-based model, a type of dynamic simulation modeling that can be used to represent heterogeneous actors with multiple goals and perceptions. As a research assistant and dissertation fellow with the Social System Design Lab, she has also been trained in system dynamics, an aggregate-level dynamic simulation modeling method.

Prior to joining the PhD program, she worked as a research associate at the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program from 2008-2012. BHCHP is an exemplar model of providing patient-centered care for people who have experienced homelessness. There, she gained significant experience in managing research projects, collecting qualitative and quantitative data, and program evaluation. She earned her MSW from the University of Michigan in 2007, with a focus on policy and evaluation in community and social systems, and a BA in sociology in 2005, also at the University of Michigan. Ms. Stringfellow was born and raised in a small town in Michigan.

PhD Industrial Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, Pakistan, MSc Industrial Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, Pakistan

I am an Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and supervision in data-driven decision making, operations research, and computational modeling. My research integrates Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), Agent-Based Modeling (ABM), and Reinforcement Learning (RL) to support strategic decision systems in sustainability, investment, and industrial operations. My recent work explores human-centric and multi-actor systems, leveraging simulation-based optimization and AI-driven analytics to enhance resilience, efficiency, and sustainability in complex socio-technical environments. I have published extensively in international journals, reviewed over 75 manuscripts, and am an active member of INFORMS and the System Dynamics Society. My long-term goal is to bridge industrial systems modeling with intelligent decision support, aligning academic research with real-world sustainability and innovation challenges.
