This 30-hour course will introduce the principles and practice of agent-based modelling. Participants will learn how to design, implement, and evaluate ABMs that are relevant to their own fields of research and teaching. The course includes introductory instruction in NetLogo, a popular and powerful software platform and programming language specifically for ABMs.
Jointly organised by the University of Milan, and University of Brescia, the Behave school takes place in a hybrid setting in Brescia, Italy, from 31 August to 11 September 2026. It aims to train students in agent-based modelling through a combination of theoretical and practical lectures, daily hands-on sessions, project presentations, and consultations with experts.
Join this intensive 1 week course to build your own ABM, analyze your specific case with experts, practice advanced techniques, and plan the next steps for your own fully functional model.
The first NetLogo user conference will be June 29 to July 1, 2026, in Chicago.
The conference’s purpose is to bring together the diverse communities of NetLogo users and agent-based modelers (both researchers and educators) to share, learn, make connections, and have fun.
A 2-week training course to gain a modelling culture and learn the different skills required for building agent-based models (ABM) applied to sociological, ecological or socio-ecological systems, with a focus on participatory modelling.
(EN) A place to discuss, experiment with, and disseminate the use of Agent-Based Models (ABMs) as tools for modeling and investigating complex phenomena.
Join this intensive 1 week course to build your own ABM, analyze your specific case with experts, practice advanced techniques, and plan the next steps for your own fully functional model.
Behave Summer School on Agent-Based Modelling 2025, 1-12 September 2025, Brescia, Italy (Hybrid)
By taking part in this course, you will gain a modelling culture and learn the different skills required for building agent-based models (ABMs) applied to sociological, ecological, or socio-ecological systems. MISS-ABMS promotes a collaborative practice of modelling and simulation, is multi-platform (NetLogo, GAMA and Cormas), presents the different stages of an ABM process, with a focus on model design and implementation, offers a significant time for group work to design and implement an ABM
Steve Railsback and Volker Grimm will present their short course introducing agent-based modeling for scientific applications. Major topics include model design—how to determine what things should be in a model or left out; programming models in the NetLogo platform; and model analysis—how to use a working model to produce theoretical and applied understanding. The course is sponsored by the NetLogo team at Northwestern University.
